Death Register Aug. 1852-Jan. 1855.

Description: The General Assembly passed an Act for deaths to be recorded by physicians beginning July 1, 1852. The act was repealed on Jan. 31, 1855. There were no official death records kept prior to 1893 other than this time period. If you are searching for a death prior to 1893 that is not in this series, we suggest trying church records or family files at The York County History Center.

Content: The information in this series contains: the name of the deceased; race; sex; age; name of parents; occupation; place of birth; name of deceased's spouse; cause of death; place of death; place of burial; and the name and residence of the person returning the certificate.
